Android TV Internet Blocker

1 / 6 · Open full size
Android TV app that cuts and restores the television’s internet on demand, controlled from a web page on any phone or laptop. Blocking is done with Android’s own VPN service, so it needs no root and no router changes.
Cutting internet to a TV box normally means logging into the router or rooting the device — neither is something a parent wants to do from another room, and both affect every device in the house rather than just the TV.
The TV app runs a local VpnService that captures all network traffic and discards it, excluding itself from the tunnel so it can still reach the server. It polls a small Express backend every ten seconds for commands, and a browser control panel pairs with the TV using a six-character code shown on screen.
A block sent from the browser takes effect on the TV within about ten seconds — the app’s polling interval — with no router configuration and no root access.
