Delivery marketplaces take a percentage of every order. Put your own order volume, average ticket and commission rate into the sliders below and see what that comes to in a month — and what the same orders would keep on a site you own.
Move the sliders to your own numbers. Nothing here is fixed, including the commission rate.
On those numbers, a marketplace keeps
$2,962/month
The commission rate is yours to set — 30% is a headline marketplace figure, not a claim about any one platform. Card processing is 2.9% + 30¢ an order, which you still pay on your own site and which is subtracted above. Months are 4.33 weeks. This estimates commission only; it does not model delivery driver costs, which stay with the marketplace.
Published 2026 guides put marketplace commission at 15% to 30% of the order total depending on the plan a restaurant signs up to, with the effective cost reaching 30% to 40% once the additional per-order fees are counted. The rate is not one number — it moves with the plan, the platform and the market, which is why the calculator above makes it something you set rather than something we assume.
The reason those percentages bite is the margin underneath them. Industry reporting puts a typical independent restaurant's net margin at 3% to 5%. Against that, a 25–30% commission is not a slice off the profit on an order — it is frequently larger than the profit on that order.
Those ranges are drawn from published industry guides read on 11 September 2026, not from figures we measured ourselves, and they describe the market generally rather than any single platform's current rate card. Check your own statements for the rate you are actually paying — that is the number the calculator wants.
It does not replace delivery. The marketplaces employ the drivers and that cost is genuine. What it replaces is the commission on the orders you would have had anyway — regulars, pickup orders, and people who went looking for you by name and landed on an app instead. Most restaurants keep both, and move the orders they already own onto a site they control.
You also keep the customer. On a marketplace, the order history, the email address and the relationship stay with the platform.
